Core Spaces, which is a Chicago based student housing company, is buying up properties on Cumberland. Will Sims from Oliver Smith Realty and Development handled one of the many sales of the Shell Gas station property at 2001 Cumberland Ave, which Core Spaces bought for $10.5 million. They also bought at least 13 parcels on the Strip. They have planned to construct two 10-story buildings and other apartment building with a retail aspect . Additionally, they are set to improve the Cumberland Avenue corridor by increasing parking for students and visitors to the hospital, new student housing, and maximizing street facing retail. This is one of the largest commercial buyouts by one entity.
