In a deal brokered by Will Sims of Oliver Smith Realty and Development, Hatcher- Hill Properties sold the former Bowery and NV nightclub property at 125 E. Jackson Avenue to Manki 3 Investments LLC for $3.8 million. The new owners are transforming it into a great venue for people to live and eat in. It is in a prime location in the Old City, just a couple of blocks from the location of the proposed stadium that will host the Tennessee Smokies minor league baseball team. The existing property plans have already been approved and permitted ,and construction has started. The project should be completed in about 14 months. The only change in the existing plans that the new owners made was on the second floor. Hatcher- Hill had originally planned to have an office space on the second floor, but now that floor will be used for residential units. Sims said, ” While it’s too early to discuss what businesses would occupy the buildings, the owners have received letters of intent from interested restaurant tenants.” Other developers have moved in to get their hands on other buildings in the booming area. The property values are skyrocketing as the baseball stadium project moves along. Therefore, the Jackson Ave. project will be right in the middle of all the action and will be one of the many new buildings in East Knoxville that will boost business and improve the quality of life in that area.
