Oliver Smith Realty & Development Co., Inc. is a full service company with a cross functioning team of devoted individuals providing experience in commercial development, brokerage, commercial auctions and 1031 tax exchanges, working throughout the southeast United States.
After receiving his degrees from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1987, Oliver A. Smith, IV joined his family’s real estate brokerage, development and law firm. He trained in real estate development, commercial brokerage and real estate syndications under the tutelage of Oliver A. Smith, Jr., until his demise in 1990. At that time, Mr. Smith became President of Oliver Smith Realty & Development Company, Inc.
Mr. Smith continues the involvement of his company with the region’s growth. Mr. Smith sits upon a number of professional and civic boards as well as numerous charitable organizations. He was President of Keep Knoxville Beautiful, and has been named to its Hall of Fame. He has been a member of the Economic Development Board for the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership and was a founding member and past President of the internationally recognized Young Entrepreneur Organization’s Knoxville Chapter. He was the President of the West Knoxville Rotary Club and Knoxville TVA Employee Credit Union’s Simply Smart Foundation for Education. He is a member of the 2019 Leadership Knoxville class and was on the development committee for The University of Tennessee’s School of Art and the Chancellor’s Advisory Committee.
With multiple projects throughout Central and East Tennessee, and with close relationships with numerous national and regional clientele, Mr. Smith continues to invest in his community’s future by bringing new businesses and interest to the region’s landscape. Mr. Smith and his team of dedicated real estate professionals strive to maintain the company’s 85-year, multi-generational reputation of being respected in every field of its endeavors.
He is married to his beautiful wife of 33 years, Sarah. He has two children, Olivia, who is an educator and is in the PhD program at the University of Tennessee and his son, Crosse, who has joined the company as of 2024. Crosse also happens to be the 5th generation of Oliver Smiths that have attended University of Tennessee Knoxville and hopes to continue the firm into its 100th year of family ownership.
Jerry grew up in Memphis, Tennessee. His love of sports kept him engaged in athletics from an early age and was his ticket to a football scholarship at the University of Tennessee. Under the tutelage of Coach Doug Dickey, Jerry and his teammates played in three major bowl games (’66 Gator, ’67 Orange, and ’68 Cotton Bowls) and won the Southeastern Conference in 1967. Jerry graduated with a degree in Marketing and Transportation in 1969 and coached the UT freshman offensive line that Fall while working on a masters degree. In 1970, he was honored by UT fans as a member of the News-Sentinel’s Tennessee All-Decade team for the ’60’s. Upon graduation, Jerry and his wife, Mary Lynn, remained in Knoxville and are proud parents of two sons, which gave them a granddaughter and grandson.
After a 25+ year award-filled career in the automotive replacement parts industry as a salesman, sales manager, and marketing manager with firms like Maremont, ITT, and Arrow Automotive, Jerry decided on Commercial Real Estate Sales as his career path of choice. He chose Oliver Smith Realty & Development Co., Inc. because of its long standing history of success, reputation and recognition in the market place, and a common philosophy…. “what is right, is right and that’s what we will do.” One of Jerry’s most recent milestone accomplishments was the sale of the historical 500 Acre Davis Farm in Blount County, Tennessee to The University of Tennessee.

Jim Turner has been associated with Oliver Smith Realty & Development Co., Inc. for over 10 years, developing Retail Centers, Offices and a variety of other commercial properties.
Jim graduated from Penn State University in 1973 earning a degree in Real Estate and Insurance. After graduation, Jim was employed by R. Dan Culp, Realtor, as Construction Coordinator and Leasing Agent for the Northshore Center Office Complex where he leased and finished the interior space of the 200,000 square foot complex.
In 1976 Jim formed Eastern Realty Management Co., specializing in commercial property development and management. For 15 years he developed numerous successful projects from Tennessee to Florida. Since working with Oliver Smith Realty & Auction Co., Inc., Jim has developed projects from Advance Auto Parts Stores, St. Mary’s Medical Offices, Family Dollar Stores, Movie Gallery Stores, Fabric Outlet Stores to a Montessori School.
Jim is a member of the Rotary Club of West Knoxville where he has served as both President and Treasurer. Jim is a devoted family man and father. He and his wife, Susan, and their 5 children enjoy boating on the Tennessee River and traveling abroad. Jim also enjoys touring the southeast while piloting his plane.
Dean is a North Knoxville native, graduating from Halls High School. He is a University of Tennessee alumni with a degree in Business Administration, with a major in Real Estate. He started his real estate career in 1976 and is a longtime family friend and partner with Oliver Smith and his development company. Dean was involved in the development of Emory Road and I-75, as well as Hardin Valley at Pellissippi Parkway. Dean is married to his wife, Janie, of 46 years and has two daughters and three grandchildren. He enjoys golf and is an avid fisherman and botanical enthusiast.
Will is a real estate professional who realizes the full value of an asset through creative, strategic positioning, strong market knowledge and the ability to identify potential development opportunities. Will specializes in asset acquisition/disposition, 1031 Exchanges, NNN properties, Tenant representation, Development, Downtown Knoxville and the surrounding areas and he also implements growth strategies for local, regional, and national corporate real estate accounts.
Will’s clients include institutional and high net-worth investors, REITs, national and local banks, national and regional retail tenants, and many local restaurants, together with industrial and large manufacturing facilities and investments. Will, alongside Oliver Smith, has had a large hand in positive changes for Downtown Knoxville, TN, and continues to further new development and growth in this exciting market.
Will’s community ties run strong. Growing up in Atlanta, GA and Knoxville, TN, Will has watched the Southeastern marketplace continue to grow and prosper. He went to Central High School and The University of Tennessee with a focus in Business Management. He has ventured into opening and owning new concept restaurants and businesses. Firsthand, Will learned the values of building lasting relationships with community members, clients, and customers.
Besides his real estate career, Will enjoys spending time on the ski slopes, lake, golf course, and traveling with his family.
Peter was educated in Melbourne, Australia at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology where he received a degree with honors in Commercial Real Estate Appraisal. His career started in Melbourne working with English Firm Hillier Parker appraising commercial real estate in downtown Melbourne. He was the recipient of the first USA – Australia Appraisal Scholarship and moved to East Tennessee in 1992. Peter has over 30 years experience in all aspects of real estate including brokerage, appraisal, development and investing. In addition to developing several west Knoxville residential subdivisions including the Polo Club and the Anthem he spent 2 years working in China promoting an EB-5 investment project. In his free time Peter enjoys boating and traveling with his wife Marta and three children.
A native of Long Island, New York, Peter Pratti is entering his fourth year of commercial real estate here in Knoxville. While competing as a collegiate athlete at Lincoln Memorial University, Peter discovered his passion for the real estate investment business. Prior to joining Oliver Smith Realty and Development Company, Inc., Peter invested in multi-family properties throughout Tennessee, and he will continue with this enterprise in the company. Peter has completed over $10 million in gross multi-family transactions, raising private equity to purchase and reposition apartment buildings. With this experience in investment real estate, he will leverage his personal experiences in the commercial realm to serve the clients of the firm. Peter intends to concentrate his efforts in multi-family site acquisition and disposition.
Garrett was born and raised in Knoxville, TN. He graduated as Valedictorian of West High School and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Tennessee with his degree in accounting and international business. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a sales leader for a variety of healthcare and medical device companies, as well as an accountant for a Big 4 accounting firm. Garrett has been involved in real estate investments throughout Tennessee for several years and is eager to serve the firm’s clients professionally. He firmly believes Knoxville and East Tennessee are ripe for continued growth and investment and is excited to take part in making that growth come to fruition.
Garrett stays very involved in the local community. He was a recent candidate for Knoxville City Council in 2020 and is very active as a member of the UT Young Alumni Council. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, cooking, hiking, and spending time with his friends and family.
Matthew Risse has recently relocated to the Knoxville area after spending more than 15 years in the venue and facility management business with Spectra, formerly Global Spectrum. Matt comes to Oliver Smith Realty and Development Company with a background in the leasing and management of stadiums, convention centers, and indoor arenas. His years of experience are centered around providing honest and direct feedback to high-profile clients, such as minor league baseball ownership, State Universities and municipal facilities. Matt’s decades-long history in facility management, where he specialized in food and beverage, has given him the opportunity to work with various high-profile tenants around the country. He will bring years of experience with him for his new position with Oliver Smith. With his depth of knowledge in client relations, management, and with his deep background in food and beverage tenant leasing, Matt will open up new regional opportunities for the firm.
Dr. Aaron Driskill has joined Oliver Smith Realty & Development Company because of his passion for helping others. He relocated to Knoxville from his native Missouri a decade ago to continue his career in healthcare as a clinical physician. Building on his successful career, Dr. Driskill chose commercial real estate as his next business venture, using his medical experience, communication skills, and local property knowledge to advise the company’s clients. His unique preparation allows him to effectively generate leads and analyze properties, especially in the growing healthcare industry. Dr. Driskill lives on Fort Loudon Lake in Farragut, Tennessee, where he enjoys all kinds of water recreation, shooting sports and hunting.
Brian Coyle was the Director of the 3CRE Nashville Commercial Division. He specialized in multifamily and commercial assets. He was responsible for over $170 million dollars in multifamily and commercial sales. However, it’s his dedication and appreciation for customer relations that will make him an indispensable asset to Oliver Smith Realty & Development Company, Inc. Originally from Darien, Connecticut, he made his way to Cincinnati by way of Xavier University. Brian will be entering his fifth year in the commercial real estate industry. His specialties include helping investors with the process of acquiring, selling, and developing multifamily investments. When he isn’t at work helping investors close commercial deals, he enjoys golfing, boating, and fishing on the Gulf Coast.
Will Wegner of Oliver Smith Realty & Development Company, Inc. will be serving the Nashville, TN market for the company. Will has a heavy sales/marketing background, and his drive and desire to grow have equipped him to create impactful relationships with clients. Will is excited to bring his industry knowledge of multifamily sales, retail leasing/sales, and 1031 exchanges to the Oliver Smith Team. Originally from San Jose, CA, Will went to Xavier University, and shortly after a 2 year post grad sales job in Cleveland, OH decided to move down to Nashville to pursue a career in commercial real estate brokerage. Will uses his interest in learning and growing with clients to create lucrative opportunities in any market environment. In his free time Will loves to golf and spend as much time with family as possible.
Ben Clarke is an Affiliate Broker at Oliver Smith Realty & Development Company, Inc. He has many years of experience working in Commercial Real Estate & Engineering that will greatly benefit the company’s clients. He possesses a high level of drive, integrity, an incredible work ethic and thoroughly enjoys working in challenging environments. Ben specializes in asset acquisitions/dispositions, NNN properties & 1031 Exchanges. He was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH where he attended the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Chemical Engineering. Ben moved to Nashville, TN shortly after graduating from college. His career started at Nissan Motor Corporation working in Engineering Design. He then shifted his career focus to Commercial Real Estate and started working as an Investment Advisor where he focused on Retail & Multi-Family transactions. In his free time, Ben enjoys golfing, exercising/playing sports, collecting bourbon and traveling with his wife, Valerie.
Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Jordan Misch joined Oliver Smith Realty and Development Company to help expand the firm’s reach into this beautiful & rapidly growing “Scenic City” and its MSA. After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a dual concentration in Supply Chain Management and Marketing, Jordan spent years gaining experience providing client-driven value in sales and sales leadership across various industries such as healthcare, cybersecurity, and supply chain & logistics management. Jordan has a strong passion to be involved in the development and expansion of Chattanooga. He has transitioned into Commercial Real Estate, where he will leverage his experience, knowledge, and industry relationships to provide the firm’s clients on the ground knowledge in this exciting market and the region.
Outside of his career, Jordan stays active and spends his time cooking, smoking barbecue, trying new local restaurants, and relaxing with his family and dogs.
Brock Warwick is a Knoxville native and has watched Central and East Tennessee blossom around him. Brock graduated from Samford University with a degree in business administration and a concentration in professional sales. He is closely involved in the Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Birmingham Sigma Chi alumni networks. Brock is also a member of the Young Professionals of Chattanooga, Young Professionals of Knoxville, and a number of other business organizations. Brock values the professionalism and accuracy of the company. Brock specializes in the retail and hospitality sectors, primarily in the Knoxville and Chattanooga regions.
Brock’s hobbies/passions include auto racing, watersports, fishing, and attending sporting events.
